Hearthfire's Irritating Steward Troubles by Edofenrir Hearthfire's Irritating Steward Troubles by Edofenrir
I don't like Dunmer all that much. I've met a few who were acting in a sensible manner, as opposed to their more entitled brethren. However, I think to this day Erandur is the only Dunmer who I'd actively want to keep around me, because he's a swell guy. After his quest is done, he stays behind in a gloomy temple full of probably tormenting memories for him. He implies it's for penance reasons, but honestly, it doesn't sound very healthy.

I acquired the Hearthfire extension for Skyrim recently, and when I got to the part where you can appoint a follower as your personal steward, I was immediately filled with glee. I'd love to get Erandur out of that unhealthy environment and somewhere nicer, but I don't really use followers because they have this habit of breaking my stealth. So I brought him to my house, and there I realized you can't make him a steward. A lot of the great followers can't be made into stewards, actually.

You can have some random mercenaries as your steward, but not the probably coolest Dunmer in the game. That is just lame. I'm sorry.

I feel that pain. I really wanted Kharjo as my steward cause he's so much fun to have around, but I ended up with Faendal because he happened to be at the Riverwood mill when I was sawing logs :c

There's a mod now, "My home is your home"  Put Erandur someplace nice.  Of course, if you have aft, he learns sneak in a hurry

Funny yet sad. I think I left Illia to manage Lakeview, with my two kids, housecarl, and Aylen.

But wanted him to manage Winstad, since it was going to be where I kept all my magic related and other dangerous stuff. But nope, can't do it. >_<

Yeah, I kind've thought that sucked, too. I've had Erandur following my Orc almost the entire time I've played Skyrim. Ah, well. I'll settle with him being her father figure/battle companion. :yoda: Cool style, by the way.

Centuries of having your people enslaved by them kind of does that to you.

You said dislike most dark elfs for slavery of argonians but slavery was abolished around 250 years before skyrim and american slavery ended around 150 years ago so i was just trying to say if argonians are pissed off about it 250 years later shouldn't black Americans still be pissed off with white Americans.

sorry if im sounding a dick but i dont know another way to word this.

Slavery has been abolished by the time of Skyrim, yes. But regarding my character I have some headcanon that I don't want to bore you with, so I'll summarize it as: My Morrowind and Skyrim characters are the same person, and the memories of Argonians and Khajiit being sold into slavery are still vivid in her mind. So she's not really some descendant who is randomly pissed off about something that happened before her time, she's a direct witness to the crimes committed against her people, who lived for a long time and held on to her grudges from the past for longer than it is sensible.

But regardless of all that, I believe it is not good to draw conclusions like this. The american slave trade was a real event that caused real people to suffer immensely and unjustly. Argonians and Dunmer are purely fictional races however, and so is their conflict. Drawing conclusions from the latter to determine how the victims of the former are supposed to feel strikes me as inappropriate and unnecessary.

Well, I have no problem with Dunmer as long as they aren't trying to enslave people. What is your wife's opinion on the slave trade?

Ogol was my first steward and i thought he'd still be silent and grouchy like normal

when i adopted Lucia and Samuel i accidently clicked on him when i went to talk to Samuel and he actually came out with this

"we may not be blood but we're a family and I wouldn't change anything about it"

i'm a 21 year old man and my heart literally melted for a second

Yeah, the game has a way to just make you want to hug its characters sometimes.
